Welcome Statement

WELCOME to DFW Tzus & More Rescue's website. We are so excited about our recent endeavor, and hope you will share our excitement about saving homeless Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apsos, and many of their furry friends from shelters all across the DFW Metroplex. These fluffs tend to bring out the joy in all of us.

It is so thrilling to watch these little dogs change from frogs to princes, or princesses, with love and attention from their foster parents. Most of the members of our organization work full time jobs and have families who also require their time. Yet, these caring volunteers still make time in their busy lives to foster and give of their time in numerous ways in order to save the lives of many furbabies. At DFW Tzus & More Rescue, we understand how lucky we are to have such a great group of devoted dog lovers. We have the ultimate respect for each of them. Among ourselves, we have the saying that, "Volunteers are God sent, and should be treated as such".

Every volunteer is valued, as is every dog.

If you have considered volunteering in the past, but haven't quite gotten around to it, why not come out and meet our group at one of our scheduled Tzu Review showings, and see for yourself. The people who compose our new rescue make volunteering fun and rewarding! Their enthusiasm for saving homeless Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apsos, and their furry friends is contagious.

We are not just another group of volunteers, but a group of friends who share the common goal of saving the lives of precious little dogs. If you want to be happy for a day, go to an amusement park. If you want to be happy for a life time, then volunteer for a worthy cause! Make a difference!

Credo

We believe that every person, whether volunteer or potential adopter, and every dog, whether purebred or mixed breed, should be treated with the dignity each deserves as one of God's creations. These rescued dogs provide their new adopters with years of unconditional love and joy, thus enhancing in innumerable and immeasurable ways the quality of life of their humans. Therefore, the volunteers of DFW Tzus & More Rescue believe it is our duty and ultimate mission to find the best possible homes for the homeless dogs in our temporary care.

A Message From The President

Recently, one of our DFW Tzus volunteers asked me if I had thought starting a new Rescue group would have been this easy, or would have gone this well. My answer was no, never in my dreams, did I foresee a group of volunteers working so diligently and so well together.

Starting DFW Tzus & More Rescue has been the most profound experience of my life. From the moment another volunteer, who is a corporate comptroller, offered to do the accounting for a new Rescue, everyone involved has worked together in harmony to put together a smoothly, functioning organization to achieve our common goal of saving homeless dogs.

I want to thank all of these volunteers and sponsors from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be a part of the DFW Tzus & More success story.  With seven adoptions already under our belt, I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this wonderful group and for the dogs in our care.

Mission Statement

DFW Tzus & More Rescue is a charitable, 501(c)3 nonprofit rescue and foster care organization based in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex whose ultimate mission and duty is to match homeless Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apsos, and their furry friends with their ideal, loving, forever home, and give these homeless animals a second chance at a wonderful, new life that they so richly deserve. By working closely with local animal shelters, we hope to prevent the senseless euthanasia of these unfortunate stray or abandoned pets, which have ended up in shelters through no fault of their own.

PhotoAfter providing incoming dogs with immediate medical care, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and spay/neuter, rescued dogs are brought into temporary foster care where they receive the same love and attention as a cherished family pet. Through temperament evaluation, and behavioral modification as needed, we endeavor to insure that each homeless dog finds a loving family and will "come home to stay."

We educate the public and potential adopters about spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartworm preventatives, regular vet care, good nutrition, regular grooming, microchipping, and just as importantly, "adopting" rather than purchasing from a breeder. By continuing to educate, and constantly searching for caring foster homes, the volunteers of DFW Tzus & More Rescue hope to realize our dream of a day when we are able to rescue and rehome every Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, and all their other small, furry friends in DFW Metroplex shelters.

Only with your help can we achieve our dream. People like you can make a huge difference by choosing adoption, spaying/neutering, volunteering, fostering, or making a donation. As those of us in rescue say, "The best natural highs are initially saving a dog from a shelter, witnessing the happiness of the adoptive family and the dog on adoption day, and then meeting or corresponding with the family  afterwards, and hearing how much joy,  pleasure, and unconditional love they have received from their adopted dog!"

If you would like to experience this thrilling, heartwarming feeling, and "make a difference" in the life of a homeless dog and its future adopter, then click on the application link, the volunteer link, or the donation link!
