One of our favorite things at DFW Tzus & More Rescue is seeing the smiles on the faces of our new adopters! Seeing those smiles and watching the dogs give kisses to their new parents with tails a-waggin, makes it all worth while for the volunteers of DFW Tzus & More Rescue. The loving bond exhibited between the family and their newly adopted dog is our ultimate reward for volunteering.
We LOVE happy endings and want to share our stories with you as adoptions occur. Happy viewing and stay tuned for upcoming Happy Homes success stories!

Mr.Big
Mr. Big’s new Petfinder picture showed what a handsome dog he really could be, and suddenly he had many potential adopters interested in him. But now that he has found his forever home, all those wannabes will just have to be disappointed. He has a new Poodle playmate, and even gets along with the cat. Patty and Larry love having him, and they say he is the perfect dog for them! Mr. Big’s foster Mom agrees. She kept saying that Mr. Big was just the PERFECT DOG….and now the lucky Mr. Big has found his perfect family.

Penny
Penny was adopted by Tina and her daughter Melissa. Melissa recently moved home from New York. Tina has to be apart from her husband during the week because of work, and Penny will be there to keep them company. She is so lucky to have found this wonderful family to spoil her, and for her to love. She always barks when someone comes to the door, so they are also getting a guard dog. Her bark is bigger than she is and they won’t need a doorbell now. Tina says that walking Penny will help her get outside more. Penny LOVES walks.

Tumbleweed
Tumbleweed’s new parents, Johnna and Jack came to the 11/03/07 review not knowing what to expect. Johnna said that she had never heard of our group and was hesitant to come. After arriving, they were sitting on the floor playing with several of the dogs when Tumbleweed walked over past the other dogs, and climbed into Jack’s lap. At the same time, he climbed into Johnna’s and Jack’s hearts. As it turned out Tumbleweed, now known as Cody, picked his own adoptive family. This is another happy ending for one of DFWTM rescued Shih Tzu. We are not sure who is the luckiest, Tumbleweed aka Cody, or his new family.

Steffi
Stephanie Plum went to a new home with a sister named Tootsie. Steffi and Tootsie could be twins. Once Steffi’s coat grows, she will be just as beautiful Tootsie is and you probably won’t be able to tell them apart with their top knots. But the two girls don’t care about looks. They just want to PLAY, PLAY, PLAY! These two little darlings needed an outlet for their energy, and they found it in each other. Steffi’s new parents are just delighted that they get along so well.

Buddy
Buddy has been adopted by a great young couple who have a lot of time to spend with him. His new Mom only goes to school a few hours a week. He is in a home without other pets which is the way Buddy prefers it. Buddy loves to be the center of attention, and his little antics and dances will certainly entertain his new parents. Buddy is also very popular within the extended family. He has already taken a road trip to see relatives!

Marilyn
Ms. Monroe was adopted by a young couple with two little girls, who will help her spend some of her boundless energy. Plus, there are no other pets in the home, and that's just fine with the Diva, who would rather not share her family's attention with another 4-legged family member. She's a happy camper!
Doesn’t Ms. Monroe look like she just belongs with this gorgeous family of blonds!

Lilly
Before her death, Lilly’s owner asked her daughter to find a Rescue to take her little furbaby. She wanted Lilly to have a new home that was just as excellent as the one she had. We think we succeeded in fulfilling her wishes. Lilly went to a wonderful home with a Mom who doesn’t work, and who dotes on Lilly. Her new Mom, Jo, has a sister who lives nearby and keeps Lilly when Jo has to run errands if Lilly can’t go on the errands. Consequently, Lilly is rarely left alone. This is the perfect situation for her as she has some anxiety when left alone.
We knew Jo was the right choice for Lilly when she said she thought Lilly needed her the most of all the dogs at the Tzu Review that day. What a great, caring lady to give Lilly the special love she needs.

Taylor
Taylor’s new Mom, Irma fell in love with Taylor the first time she laid eyes on him. Irma was looking for a dog to keep her company after the death of her husband, and Taylor was the right dog for the job. Taylor had his own coming home party with cake and grandkids. She bought him a basket full of toys for his first night with her. He is now a happy, spoiled little guy with lots of love. Irma says she can’t wait to get home from work everyday to see Taylor! Taylor can’t wait for her to come home, and pamper him either. Sounds like a match to us!

Nick
When Nick’s adoptive parents first saw him at Barktoberfest, it was love at first sight. They had been looking for a medium size dog to complete their family and Nick just fit the bill, both in size and personality. Nick is enjoying his new home with his new Yorkie brother (Indiana Jones) and gentle Rottweiler sister (Daisy). Their favorite things to do are to go for long walks, and to play in the dog park. Nick's family regularly participates in demonstrations with K-9 Direction at local dog events. Nick could be joining them in an event soon.

Mick and Pebs
Mickey and Pebbles needed to stay together since Mick is deaf and depends on Pebs.. DFW TZUS and More was just delighted to find such a home for them. These two never missed a beat when transitioning from foster home to forever home. According to their new parents, they came in just like they owned the place, and immediately wrapped both their parents around their little paws. We wonder if they have tried conning their Mom, Marcia, into bringing home leftovers from her great café and tea room, The Chocolate Angel;-)

Pockets
The former Poker Playing Pocket just finished week 5 of obedience training!! Dana, his new Mom, says he does tricks before breakfast and dinner. His new Dad tells him "talk to me" and he talks to them. Pocket still does his little circus dance for them, too. What a little ham! Dana thanked his foster Mom again for picking up the "extra little passenger” the day that she went to the shelter to get a Shih Tzu Rescue, and also came home with a Poodle Rescue named Pocket.
We are told Pocket is getting his picture made with Santa. We can’t wait to see it! Pocket will probably charm Santa like he does everyone else.

Rickard Gere aka Rocky
Richard Gere, now known as Rocky, was adopted by a lovely couple who recently lost their 14 year old Lhasa Apso. The couple's daughter also has a Lhasa Apso named Gismo, and they come to visit often. Gismo came over during the adoption and immediately started playing and romping with Rocky. It is going to be a great home for Rocky---another lucky DFW TZUS dog!

Ranger
As you would assume, Ranger`s new Dad is a BIG TIME Texas Rangers fan. But Jeff assures us that the new love of his life will take precedence over his love of baseball. He proved his affection for Ranger by waiting for him to recuperate from pneumonia rather than searching elsewhere for another furbaby. Jeff says Ranger is the best dog with which ever been associated, and by watching Jeff and Ranger together, we think the feeling is mutual!

Sebastian
Sebastian came to us as a 4 month old puppy, and was so full of cuteness that we knew he wouldn’t last long. As seen, he is having such fun playing with his new brother, Kirby, and his cousin. Sebastian is now living the life of luxury with his wonderful parents in Dallas.

Basil
Basil, seen here with his new brother Festus, and his human sister, Megan, was adopted from us when he was 12 weeks old. He was adopted by his foster mom’s lifelong friend, and moved to 5 acres outside Boston. Basil recently returned from a family vacation to Martha’s Vineyard with his very own Lobster Bib! What a life for a little Tzu from Texas.

Elvis Presley
It was love at first sight when Jim met Elvis, the Lhasa! Jim came in looking for a female, but was smitten by Elvis’ winning ways in about five minutes. Before adopting Elvis, Jim said he didn’t have a reason to set his alarm and get up early. Now he can’t wait to walk Elvis each morning, and Elvis can’t wait either!

Rock Hudson
Hudson, the cutest 6 month old puppy, got the exact home his foster Mom wished for him. He has a Mom who stays home, a 6 year old human sister, and a 6 month old miniature Australian Shepard sister named Pollyanna, to help him work off his excess energy. His parents say it is non-stop play between the two, all day long!

Oliver Stone
Both of Oliver new parents grew up with Shih Tzu, and couldn’t wait to get one of their own. Oliver played tug of war with his new Dad the whole time the adoption was taking place. After a vigorous game, he switched to giving kisses to his new Mom, and didn’t want to stop long enough for a picture. We just know Oliver is going to have a fabulous life with this lovely young couple.
