***BEST WISHES FOR A VERY HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!*** We hope everyone has a fun and safe celebration of the wonderful freedoms and independence that we enjoy in this great nation.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO KEEP A VERY CLOSE EYE ON YOUR DOGS FOR THE NEXT 72 HOURS!
Many dogs may become frightened by the fireworks and associated noises. DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT leave your pets outside alone on the evening of the FOURTH or on the evenings before and after. July 5th is one of the busiest days of the year for animal controls nationwide due to so many dogs getting scared and digging out of the yard.
AGAIN, PLEASE KEEP A VERY CLOSE EYE ON YOUR DOGS FOR THE NEXT 72 HOURS!!
Walk your fence now to make sure there aren’t any areas in which your dog could dig out quickly if frightened. Check to be sure all gates are securely locked. Only let our dogs outside when you are with them, and then for short periods of time. Dogs that tend to have fear of thunderstorms can also become extremely frightened and agitated by fireworks. If you don’t have a yard and must walk your dog over the holiday weekend, be sure to keep a tight hold on the leash, and make sure your dog/dogs can’t back out of their collar if they become frightened. Using a Martindale collar or a harness secured tighter than usual are the safest options.
