The "LOST" Dogs: 16 Montague County Puppy Mill Dogs Rescued by DFW Tzus and More

These poor darlings seem to have had very little human contact in their lives. They are all so shy and frightened. Just seeing them and knowing what they have been through has brought many a tear to our volunteers' eyes this week. We felt that naming the group after the TV show "Lost" was apropos.  DFWT&M volunteers are going to do everything in their power to make sure these little ones never lose their way again.

They will need some time in foster care to learn to trust humans. In addition, to their sad past, it had to be a traumatic experience living in a temporary shelter for over 2 weeks with almost 500 other dogs and and a host of volunteers who they had not met before, and then off to a vet clinic for a few days. They have had a lot of change in a very short amount of time considering they have probably never been out of their cages or ridden in a vehicle. However, the majority have already been moved into foster care and seem to be warming up to human touch and attention. We hope to have them all in foster care by next Wednesday.

The following photos were taken last Saturday evening as the dogs were checked into the vet clinic. We were told we could pick up our dogs from the temp shelter, immediately, late Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, Dr. Hagan and vet tech Shelley, met us at the clinic at 6PM and we stayed for 2 1/2 hours processing the dogs and getting them settled into their kennels for the night.
