MORE GOOD NEWS: Special Needs Shih Tzu Lance Armstrong is 200th Adoption for DFW Tzus and More Rescue. Hurray for Lance!
WE are so excited and pleased to announce Shih Tzu Lance Armstrong as DFWT&M's 200th adoption! Lance is a true rags to riches, frog to prince story. Lance has had foster Mom Missie and the whole DFWT&M gang supporting him, and hoping and praying for a fabulous forever home for him. After a little over a year of foster care, we found the perfect home and a happy new beginning for the darling Shih Tzu Lance.
Lance came to us after being dumped on a country road with a bowl of water. His nails were so long they would curl around a nickel and it took him weeks before he could walk comfortably on his pads. He had a horrible case of mange, with much of his hair missing on his sad little malnourished body. Foster Mom Rita started Lance on the road to recovery, but when Rita had to go out of town, Missie took over and did a super job of nursing Lance back to health for the last year. This included administering the mange meds daily along with supplements, frequent medicated baths, and trips to the dermatologist. In his happy home photos, Lance can hardly be recognized as the same heart wrenching dog who was found alone on that country road.
Even though Lance is still being treated for mange, his wonderful, compassionate new parents Peter and Susan are willing to continue his mange treatments and care with the dermatologist. We know Lance will be happy in his new home with Susan, Peter, and his new Lhasa brother, Henry.
The photos below illustrate Lance's progression after entering foster care with DFW Tzus and More Rescue.
