We have never had a group of dogs touch the hearts of our foster parents as these angels have. It is such a joy to view them overcoming their fear of just about everything and everyone, and to watch them experience a whole new world never before seen.

Just seeing them and knowing what they have been through has brought many a tear to our volunteers' eyes this week. We felt that naming the group after the TV show "Lost" was apropos. DFWT&M volunteers are going to do everything in their power to make sure these little ones never lose their way again.

On JULY 7, 2009, almost 500 dogs were seized from a Montague County puppy mill. They were living in conditions that ranged from bad to horrific. The story behind the story is how a community has come together to give these dogs a new leash on life. The generousity of the DFW metroplex has been amazing.

We are so happy to report that post surgery, and despite a gigantic incision, little Lucky is doing great according to foster Mom, Heidi. Lucky is not too thrilled to be wearing his e-collar, but otherwise he is eating well and wanting to be in Heidi's arms whenever possible. Think he might become a little spoiled during his recovery?

The Lucky "Lucky Dog" came through his surgery as hoped for and is recovering in hospital. Foster Mom Heidi was sad that she couldn't see him when he woke from anesthesia, but the doctors convinced her that it was best for Lucky not to see her and get excited. Please continue to keep Lucky in your thoughts and prayers.

Submitted by cbarekman on Wed, 07/08/2009 - 00:33AS many of you know, the adorable Lucky has a portal systemic liver shunt, which in laymen's terms means his blood vessels don't route properly through his liver so that his liver can properly cleanse the toxins from his blood. If Lucky doesn't have surgery to correct this problem, he will have a shortened life span.
